Rock & Roll is a musical genre with a set pace that is derived from other genres such as doo wop, rhythm and blues, the hillbilly, blues or country. Rock & Roll became popular in the 1950s thanks above all to Elvis Presley (singer), Chuck Berry (guitarist) and just as representative bands like Eddie Cochran, Little Richard and Bill Haley and The Comets, among others.
Rock & Roll is danced in pairs and is considered an evolution of Lindy Hop. From its birth in the 1950s in the U.S., it was very much tied to youth rebellion due to being fast-paced, energetic and lighthearted. It is not only a ballroom dance but also combines the dynamic movements of the JIVE and acrobatics.
