The casino wheel was born in Cuba in the 50s, approximately in the year 1956. Its name is due to the fact that it emerged and was danced for the first time in the Sports Casino Club of this country. This way of dancing by a choir was brought by the African slaves from the island of Annobón (Equatorial Guinea) and is a traditional dance of this island called Tombo Loso (drum of the town), from this island the Cumbé is also native what today is called La Cumbia.
The wheel is formed by pairs of dancers in an indeterminate number that perform dance figures combined with each other. When the wheel is born in the 50s, salsa is not danced but they are, they are almost always montuno, guaracha and also chachachá, etc. In this creative way, this way of dancing emerged, which is later fully applied by dancing salsa.
